10/29/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Got toy? Let’s meet! My handsome friend Castile is dreaming of a new home and a toy box filled with toys. He loves to play, will share, and once he chooses the toy du jour carries it around in his mouth his tail wagging. He’s playful, fun and friendly, enjoying a good butt scratch twisting himself into a pretzel to better enjoy it, with, of course, his toy in his mouth. He appears to be housetrained, and while he’s initially bouncy on leash after going potty endlessly often he settles into a nice rhythmic walk with me. Castile is an active and engaging cuddle boy, leaning in, tail wagging as he snuggles in closer. He romps hard with other dogs after needing some time to warm up, so may do well with an appropriately playful companion. Super fun, entertaining and sweet, ‘live large’ seems to be his motto and he’s ready to meet his soul mate for a lifetime of fun, toys, cuddles, walks and playtime. If you’re happy and you know it wag your tail….wag, wag, wag……….

10/26/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Castile has displayed interest in engaging in play, but is not yet completely comfortable during social settings around other dogs. The behavior department feels that Castille would be most comfortable as the only resident dog, or very slow, positive introductions to unfamiliar dogs outside the care center. He arrived as a stray, so in home behavior around dogs is unknown. 10/26: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Castille takes time to warm up. He begins to solicit by barking at the helper dog and running underneath a bench. As he becomes more comfortable, he fully engages in rough, wrestling play. 10/27: Castile is less comfortable interacting in a larger group of playful dogs. He runs toward and barks at other dogs with a cautious body. 10/28: Castile engages in running play with a female dog. He is anxious and uncomfortable during the interaction (barks at nothing) but will continue to play with the other dog. He gives chase and vocalizes (growling) but does not display any signs of offensive behavior. 10/29: Castile is anxious and paces the pen whilst barking. 10/30: Castile continues to display anxious behavior, pacing while barking and seeking exit. He corrects mounting. 10/31-11/1: Castile is anxious. He runs throughout the pen, barking, whining and seeking exit. When approached by other dogs, he defensively barks at them, then runs away.
