Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
Basic Information: Cassius’ owner has to surrender due to declining health, lack of time, and cost. She got him 8 months ago from a family member who couldn’t keep him due to family change and moving to a home that doesn’t allow pets. Relatives had gotten him as a puppy from a breeder and he has lived with several members of the family at different times.
Previously lived with: Men, women, children of all ages
How is this dog around strangers? Cassius is friendly with strangers.
How is this dog around children? Cassius is friendly and playful and tolerant with children.
How is this dog around other dogs? Cassius is playful tolerant around other dogs. He briefly lived with another large male dog. The dog would sometimes prevent him from entering parts of the home and prevent him from eating. Cassius would always walk away. Cassius played exuberantly with other dogs at the dog park. He was once bit by another dog and did not try to bite the other dog in defense.
How is this dog around cats? Cassius has lived with a cat and was relaxed and respectful of him.
Bite history: Cassius hasn’t bitten anyone.
Housetrained: Partially
Energy level/descriptors: friendly, affectionate, happy, playful, smart, and medium energy
Other Notes: Cassius doesn’t mind if someone takes his food/treat/toy, moves him off furniture, wakes him up, restrains him, or bathes him. His nails were trimmed by a vet.
Cassius loves being brushed.
Medical Notes : Cassius is missing some teeth. His owner thinks this is from chewing toys.
For a New Family to Know : Cassius follows his owner and will paw at the door if left in another room. His owner reports that he solicits attention with his puppy eyes. He loves being pet and he will position his back against people’s hands until they pet him. Cassius plays fetch and likes balls and squeaky toys. Cassius sits and lies down when asked.
Cassius lived inside and potties outside. As he’s gotten older and is alone for longer hours, he has potty accidents (#1) if home alone for more than 4 hours. His owner hasn’t tried using wee-wee pads. On walks, Cassius walks besides you without pulling, but he will go for jogs as well. He stays close to his owner on off-leash walks at the park.
Cassius ate dry Pedigree food and enjoyed bacon treats and dog treats. He enjoys chicken as a treat but it gives him diarrhea. He slept next to his owner’s bed.
