01/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/07/16 17:10HRS Cassia is described as affectionate, energetic and friendly. She stayed with her finder for less than a week but lived with adults only. She did not interact with small children in her finder’s home, but was playful with everyone she was introduced to in the finder’s home. Cassia stayed with a male Pitbull in the home. She would attempt to play with the resident dog where she would nibble on his neck. The resident dog would ignore her. While being walked, she would attempt to approach other dogs that she notices so that she can play with them. BEHAVIOR Her finder stated that she doesn’t appear to be house trained. Cassia allows her finder to pet her and rub her back. She would attempt to lie in her finder’s lap while she is being petted. Cassia’s finder stated that she would allow her finder to approach her and pet her while she was eating. However while Cassia was chewing on a treat or had a toy in her mouth, if she is touched she would stiffen her body and growl or attempt to hide in the corner. The finder would offer her a different treat to distract her so that the finder could take things from her. Cassia was allowed to roam free when left alone and was well behaved. Cassia barks at the door when someone knocks. She would greet visitors with a soft body. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW She was walked at least 2x a day and would urinate outside but would defecate inside the home. She likes to play with chew toys. Cassia likes to jump up and give kisses. She would eat chicken stew and dry dog food. She would sleep with her finder at night.
01/09/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: This girl is dear, dear, dear………..I love her! Quiet in her kennel I promised her I’d be back for her and she quietly waited for me. Showing off lovely leash manners as we head to the park she goes potty as soon as we’re out the door. She ignores dogs of all sizes as we walk, she’s quiet, and checks up with me as we go. She’s a beauty in her caramel coat, her weight is perfect for her size, and she’s snuggly, attentive and gentle. Off leash in the yard she comes when called, enjoys an under the chin scratch and joins me on the bench for some kisses. Cassia loves a good game of fetch, bringing the ball right back and letting me take it right out of her mouth, or dropping it on my lap. Her gorgeous amber eyes meet mine softly as she poses for some photos and I’m completely under her spell. Cassia is a dream come true for some lucky person or family and if you’re still reading this and not rushing right over to meet her you’re missing out. Ask for Cassia today.
01/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cassia pulls a bit on the leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Cassia became over aroused during the tag interaction, grabbing the leash and was very difficult to distract her. The behavior team was unable to do the squeeze or flank because Cassia keep grabbing at the leash. She took the toy away but had soft body language. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with an Experience no children adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog responds with her tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
01/09/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Cassia uses her paws and muzzle nudges to solicit and engage in running play with male dogs (she has not yet been introduced to a female dog). She can be pushy when doing this and may even attempt to mount the other dog. Her finder reports that she was social with the male dog in the home, and would attempt to solicit play by “nibbling on his neck;” she was also respectful when he was not interested. Based on this information the behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing Cassia into a home with another dog. When off leash with other dogs Cassia greets well and does solicit briefly, but she maintains a stiff body throughout the interaction. She offers correction when play becomes too exuberant or if she is mounted. 1/12: Cassia is polite when greeting, then tries to mount the other dog. 1/13: Cassia makes brief attempts to solicit play, muzzle nudging and pawing at the other dog.
