Casanova

Hello, my name is Casanova. My animal id is #15140. I am a desexed male black brindle dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 01-Dec-2017.

Casanova is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other dogs.

Pre-op exam S/O: BAR. Active, attention seeking EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge HL: No coughing or sneezing, normal RR/RE INTEG: WNL MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Male A: Apparently healthy P: Based on chart review and no signs of CIRDC, OK for neuter tomorrow

CIRDC noted on rounds S/O: Quieter than usual Attention seeking. Eating well EENT: Eyes clear, mild mucoid nasal discharge HL: Mild cough A: CIRDC P: Rec doxycyline 300mg PO q24 x 14 days. Excellent prognosis

Date of assessment:: 12/5/2017

Look:: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted.

Sensitivity:: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.

Tag:: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.

Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.

Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.

Toy:: 1. No interest.

Summary:: Casanova was social throughout his assessment, he displayed no concern.

Summary (1):: Casanova was brought in as a stray so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown. 12/02: When off leash at the Care Center, Casanova is sexually motivated- mounting and sniffing the greeter’s genital area. He listens to handler interruption, but continues to chase the other dog. 12/06: Casanova continues to be sexually motivated, but does take breaks. He oscillates between genital licking and investigating the pens smells.
