05/10/2017 11:15 BBasic Information: Cash is an American Pit bull terrier who was surrendered due to his previous owner not having the time to care for him. Socialization: Around strangers Cash is friendly and plays gently with adults and children of all ages .Cash has lived with/ spent time with children of all ages and is relaxed and playful around them. Cash has lived with three other American Pit bull terriers, around them he was relaxed and played gently. Cash has also lived with one cat who he was relaxed and playful with. Behavior: Cash has never bitten another person or animal and is not bothered by loud sounds. Cash is friendly when someone touches his food or bowl while he is eating, takes a treat/toy away, pushes/pulls him off of the furniture, holds/restrains him, gives him a bath, and brushes his coat. Cash’s previous owner did not attempt to trim his nails so it is unknown how he would react to that event. If an unfamiliar person approaches Cash’s family or home he will be friendly towards them. For a New Family to Know: Cash is described as affectionate, friendly, ad confident with a low activity level. When at home Cash will follow around his owner and was kept indoors only. Cash was fed dry food and is mostly house trained. As per Cash’s previous owner he has accidents daily due to him not bing able to take cash outside to use the bathroom on time. Cash has never been crate trained and is well behaved when left alone at home. For exercise Cash likes off leash dog parks and doesn’t pull on a leash. When off leash Cash will wander some but will come when called. Intake Behavior: Cash was very calm during intake and had a loose body. Cash allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.
05/11/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I’m a sucker for a distinguished salt’n’pepper face, and when it comes attached to the sweetest, gentlest, most easy-going dog you could ever hope to meet…well then, color me smitten! Cash is money in the bank if you’re looking for a pet with great manners and an open heart. He’s lived in peaceful harmony with 3 other large dogs, kids of all ages, and even a cat. Welcoming to strangers and an old hand at dog park social graces, Cash has no issue sharing his toys or food, and is such a chill dude that he even keeps his cool when taking a bath! Described as affectionate and confident by his former owner, he’s been feeling a bit under the weather of late but is still happy to go outside. As his eyesight is good and his legs trot smoothly up and down the stairs, he makes for a dream date on leash. Cash takes care of ‘number one’ as soon as he gets the chance then toddles around on the grass, sniffing and searching but always coming back for some soft petting and quiet sweet talk, and when we return indoors his tail wags happily as he stops to greet a favorite staff member. He was never crate trained (no need, so well behaved!) and doesn’t want to give up his new found freedom and friends just yet, so I have to lift him back into the kennel and nudge his inquiring nose behind the door. Of course, Cash doesn’t complain a bit because that’s just who he is–stoic, serene and heartbreakingly trusting. A loyal companion of 10 years shouldn’t be spending even one night away from the comfort of his home and I hope that soon, very soon, a loving new family will welcome Cash back where he belongs.
