I am a neutered male black and white shih tzu mix. The shelter thinks I am about 13 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/04/2016 from NY 10039, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-060133.

06/06/2016 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 4 C – SEVERE CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 19.4 LBS.
06/06/16 18:13 cbc/chem nsf; still coughing whenever moving from rest, harsh lung sounds; no nasal dc A: coughing r/o CHF v tracheal collapse, v infectious v inflammatory P: start lasix SC BID.. move to medical for observation recc radiographs if pt allows 06/05/16 11:34 S/O: Patient hacking/coughing/wheezing in cage and uncontrollably during exam. BAR. Apparently eating. NO v/d -EENT – Excess nasal crusting with moderate serous nasal discharge. Unable to fully examine oral cavity (resists) but severe dental disease apparent. MM pk/moist. Lenticular opacity OU (fundic NP). -Lung sounds very harsh – esp in cranial portions bilaterally. Increased respiratory effort. Cough/wheeze throughout exam. Suspect Grade IV heart murmur – difficult to auscult through coughing. Brachycephalic. -Abd tense, np, nmp. -Matted, unkempt coat -PLN wnl A: Senior MN Shih Tzu Cough/wheeze – open; r/o CIRDC vs cardiac vs upper airway dz (collapsed trachea) vs other Suspect HM Unkempt coat P: Move to isolation Begin baytril (100 mg/ml) 0.9 ml SQ SID x 10 days CBC/Chem + HWT Recheck response to medication 1-2 days (+ re-auscult for HM if cough subsides). Reco CXR Dog had harsh lung sounds and was audibly panting in the hall. Air circulation via fan was provided (building is warm). Will monitor throughout night. Dog is still BAR. Temperature is possible aggrivation to bracycephalic breathing.

Cash is described as sweet, loving calm and obedient. He has shared the home with his 11 year old pup Maggie and a cat named Kitty Gata. He is playful with everyone in the home. He has lived with an 11 year old child and adults. Cash will play with Maggie and sleep alongside her but she likes time to herself. He is tolerant of the cat. When he notices small dogs outside, he may bark otherwise he doesn’t pay other dogs any attention. BEHAVIOR Cash will spend a lot of time sleeping during the day. He enjoys being held and pet by the family. Cash is bathed every month and enjoys playing in the tub. Cash doesn’t mind if he is approached or touched while eating. He listens when told to get off of furniture and doesn’t mind if his toys are touched. Cash is allowed to roam free when left alone and is well behaved. Cash will bark when someone knocks at the door. He welcomes everyone with a wagging tail that enters the home. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Cash enjoys playing chase. Chase doesn’t know any commands but responds well to his name. He is housebroken and uses wee wee pads in the home and accustomed to being walked outside. He is accustomed to being walked in the morning and t night around 7pm. Cash eats Science Diet ID dry dog food 3x a day. Cash sleeps in the bed with his owner.

Cash came into our center as an owner surrender along with another small dog and a cat, citing owner developing allergies. It is reported Cash is tolerant of the cat, playful with other small dog. Owner reports Cash lived with/grew up with an 11 year old child. It is reported Cash is not bothered if anyone touches his Food, Toys, Treats. Cash is reportedly housebroken to use wee wee pads in the home as well as on walks outside, typically walked in the morning and again around 7pm. Chase allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears and tail neutral. Cash did not follow at end of the leash for Tag game, unresponsive to touch. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Cash showed no interest in Toy. Owner reports he enjoys playing chase. He does not approach the helper dog.The Behavior Team feels Cash would do well with an Average adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog does not follow, unresponsive to touch Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
