05/17/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: The meaning behind the name “Carver” is a simple one. “One who carves or sculpts.” In truth, I like that for our 3 year-old boy. His face is striking and delicate, as if it was molded by two expert hands from clay. His beautiful, fawn-colored coat is woven with threads of brown, like rings on a tree, and it is lush and full. But really, a simple name suits Carver best as Carver’s a simple guy. Got four legs? Got two? None?? Carver doesn’t care a whit. You’re now his new best friend. Yes, our sculpted lad loves everyone and everyone seems to love him. On a walk to the park Carver pulls towards each potential best friend, and that circle is wide. Inviting humans are greeted with stand-up hugs and kisses and the furry, four-legged variety with the MOST exuberant tail wags I’ve seen, like wipers in a rainstorm. Free in a pen, Carver comes to me each time I call, and sits calmly for his treats. When a furry neighbor of ours departs for inside, Carver stands at the gate, gazing into the now-empty pen, and whimpers softly into the air. Not to worry. “Carver!” And just like that he’s back at my side and back with his very best friend. Lovingly carved and carved out of love, Carver is waiting to meet you at Manhattan’s ACC.
Another Volunteer Wrote: This dog is so noble, so stunning, so dignified and dear it hurts our hearts, all of us who love him, to see him in the sick ward instead of in adoptions where he once was. Or better yet–and this is where you might be of help–IN A HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He did so beautifully on his behavior test in the shelter, and not for nothing: He’s magnanimous with people and dogs, he shares his treats and food, and he is 100%, completely and utterly KIND. If this is not enough to pull your heartstrings to come down and get him right now please–and that is what we are hoping you will do–let us add that after a wonderful walk and hang out, his favorite thing to do, he has to be carried back to his cage he so dreads it. Please, please, please, come meet the star of our hearts!
