All eyes are on us and I wish they were not. People might think that we are not feeding our dogs… During our walk around the block, comments abund about Camille’s condition and somehow, she seems to enjoy very much the attention…Camille is indeed skin and bones, her ribs, hips and spine are protruding through a well groomed and shiny strawberry blond coat. Her eyes are intense and she walks head down, always searching for any scrap of food…She appears to have carried a few litters which might also have contributed to her dismal weight. As she sits on command, her neck stretches and her eyes light up when she sees a treat in my hand. Camille is in a survival mode although she is sociable and friendly. I met her again 2 days down the line. What a difference it made… Some rest, may be in a kennel but safe from the elements and other threats , three meals a day and many faces always glad to see her…. Camille is one welcoming gal in her den, leashed in no time and so excited to go out. She does her business right away. She is an amazing tail wagger and butt wiggler when she sees people coming at us…Camille is a real socialite ! Although still ravenous for food, her focus shifted to looking for human attention, comfort and love. She enjoys caresses and will rest her head in my lap for more bonding. She seems fine meeting upclose other dogs, even small ones. Camille is bottom line a very nice girl who got a raw deal in the past and is getting now her chance at hopefully a better life as she is in the spotlight…We so hope that you will consider Camille as your forever best friend. She is an awesome and so deserving dog waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center.
