I am a female white and brown chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 7 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 02/28/2016 from NY 10035, owner surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA.

02/28/16 12:39 Basic Information: Camilla is a 7 year old female Chihuahua who was given to her previous owners as a gift when she a puppy. She was surrendered because her previous owners were moving to an apartment that did allow pets. Camilla has no known injuries or health problems. Socialization: Around strangers Camilla is said to be aggressive and barks and lunges. When she plays with adults she is exuberant. She lived with children ages 4-13 years old and around them she is relaxed and playful. Around other dogs she is said to be aggressive and barks and lunges. She has not been around cats. Behavior: Camilla has bitten a person; the last time she bit was when she was a puppy. She has never bitten an animal. She isn’t bothered by storms. If she is eating and someone touched her food bowl she is said to growl and look up. If a treat is taken from her while eating she growls and snaps and has bitten. She growls if a toy is taken from her while playing. Camilla was taught not to go on furniture. She is friendly if she is given a bath. If her paws are touched she will tolerate it but pull back. She is friendly if her coat is brushed. She struggles when she is held. She barks if an unfamiliar person approached her previous home or owner but becomes friendly. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family: Camilla is described as affectionate, playful, shy, pushy, excitable, and fearful. She has a medium activity level and the two things her previous owner liked most about her were; she’s playful and loving. When her previous owner was home she would tend to follow her around. She liked to play with balls, stuffed toys, and chew toys. Her favorite games were fetch and tug. Her previous owners felt she would do well in a home with no young children. She was kept indoors only. She slept in a crate with opened door. She ate dry dog food. She is house trained but has accident s a few times a week. She is well behaved when left lone indoors. She does well in a crate for 8 hours with free roam. She knows how to sit with treats. For exercise she went on brisk walks 3 times daily. On leash she pulls very hard. Behavior during intake: Camilla had a crouched body and approached my hand hesitantly. She allowed me to pet her, pick her up with a towel and take pictures. She growled and backed up at one staff member when they approached but then relaxed and allow them to pet her after she sniffed.

Camilla was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth, growling. Once she was removed from her kennel she is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language Camilla was uncomfortable with handling; she became extremely fearful and air snap at the assessor. For safety reason the behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Camilla was not interested in toys. She does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. Camilla was surrender to us. Her previous owner described her as affectionate, playful, shy, pushy, excitable, and fearful. She has a medium activity level and the two things her previous owner liked most about her were; she’s playful and loving. When her previous owner was home she would tend to follow her around. She liked to play with balls, stuffed toys, and chew toys. Around strangers Camilla is aggressive and barks and lunges. When she plays with adults she is exuberant. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
