03/20/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/20/16 19:51 Calzone is an adult male APBT mix. He followed a group of children home after school today. They report that he was very friendly with them and was jumping into their cars. Police brought him to ACC. They report that he was friendly with them and lied down and was quiet and well-behaved on the way here in their car. Calzone had a soft body, open mouth, and wagging tail while I pet him, scanned him (-), collared him, switched his leashes, and positioned him for pictures. He walked nicely on his leash. He maintained a soft body near a small male dog in the lobby.
03/23/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Ask Calzone what he likes to do and he’ll tell you that he loves to snuggle and give kisses. He also seems to love other dogs, his little butt wiggling in excitement as he greets other dogs through the fence. He also likes to go outside to go potty – peeing enough to raise the East River by 5 inches!!! Calzone is stunning in his shiny black coat, his weight perfect for his size, his leash manners lovely and his whirlybird tail happily circling each time he greets a new friend whether two legged or four legged. Off leash in the yard he’s a busy boy greeting other dogs then snuggling in my lap and giving me kisses. We’re told that Calzone was found after he followed some kids home from school, jumped in the car to be with them and was easy and gentle. Clearly a dog who was loved and well taken care of, Calzone cried when I put him back in his kennel as he misses his people. Gentle, calm, sweet, and easy to be with, Calzone is looking to fill his life (get it?) with family, love, and snuggles. He’s so good at it! 03/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Calzone came into our center as a stray after he followed a group of children home from school. Ne had a soft body, open mouth, and wagging tail upon intake. Calzone walked nicely on leash for his relief walk. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands. Calzone displayed high energy and movement during Sensitivity item, once positioned he leaned in with open mouth pant. Calzone became a bit mouthy during Tag game, jumping up on assessor, settled easily at end of game. He pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. Calzone showed minimal interest in Toy, sniffing before turning away. He approached the helper dog with tail at spine level, fast wag, investigated and then turned away. The Behavior Team feels Calzone would do well with an Experienced adopter. He may benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play, as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2.
