01/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/16/16 Basic Info Caesar A1063086 is a 10 moth old white and tan male American bulldog mix who was surrendered today due to his family not having enough time for him. He was given to his family as a gift from a friend when he was 5 months old. Socialization Caesar is described as being extremely friendly always greeting people with a loose wiggly body and happy wagging. Caesar got along great with children who would visit his home playing with them exuberantly. Caesar played with other dogs in the park and would be seen running around them and prancing. Behavior Caesar enjoyed bath time and all grooming that was done to him. Caesar didn’t show any food guarding behaviors and allowed all his toys and treats to be taken away or played with. For a New Family to Know Caesar is described as being extremely friendly and sociable who enjoyed meeting new people. He was described as being a very happy and excited dog with a high activity level. Caesar enjoys games involving fetch and tug in the park. He is currently eating Eukanuba dry and wet food. On a leash He doesn’t pull and is partially housebroken, he uses the bathroom in a designated area in the home covered in weewee pads. During Intake Caesar Greeted staff with a loose body, wagging tail and open mouth. He was very excited and allowed all handling. He was scanned (-), collared and photographed. On the leash he walked along side staff and walked right into his kennel. He offered many kisses and solicited attention from us rubbing his body against staff and attempting to play.
01/24/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Between the head tilt, side saddle sit and frumpy face, the kisses and snuggles, wagging tail and playful personality, there are a gazillion reasons to fall for little Caesar. Caesar loves everyone – people, kids, other dogs and lots of attention. He was surrendered to our care by his family who no longer have time for him and we’re told that he’s “extremely friendly and sociable with a high activity level”. He’s a puppy and that’s what they do 🙂 He loves playing fetch and tug, and I played tug with him and let him win….. In play group he romps with other dogs, bouncy, playful and puppy rough. Caesar needs to learn leash manners as he jumps up on the leash wanting to play tug and needs to learn that the leash is for walking by his person’s side. He’s smart and likes treats so will learn quickly with positive reinforcement training. If you’re ready to fall in love with an active, energetic little frumpy face boy who loves to play and snuggle than Caesar is waiting to meet you.
01/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Caesar pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Caesar became over aroused during the tag interaction, grabbing the leash and accidentally nips the assessor on the arm. Caesar keeps grabbing at the leash and did not calm down easily. For safety reason the behavior team decided to skip the paw item. During the resources Caesar was easy to handle when chewing on toys. Caesar was surrender to us. Her previous owner described Caesar as being extremely friendly always greeting people with a loose wiggly body and happy wagging. Caesar got along great with children who would visit his home playing with them exuberantly. Caesar played with other dogs in the park and would be seen running around. Caesar didn’t show any food guarding behaviors and allowed all his toys and treats to be taken away or played with”. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter without children who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, Grabbing at the leash, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you.
01/17/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Caesar engages in play with males and females. He plays exuberantly, often running and jumping over other dogs during play. According to Caesar’s previous owner, he “played with other dogs in the park and would be seen running around them and prancing”. Any in-home behaviors regarding other dogs are unknown. Based on observation made on Caesar while in our care, the behavior department recommends that he may be placed into a home with another exuberantly playful dog. When off leash with other dogs, Caesar is bouncy, playful, and becomes pushy when soliciting play. 1/20 update: Caesar engages in rough, running play with another exuberant male; jumping on and over him during play. He is tolerant when the other dog is mouthy but eventually may cease engaging in play with him. 1/21: Caeser continues to engage in rough play with other dogs. 1/22 update: Caesar engages in running play, jumping over the othe dogs during play.
