02/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Buzlightyear came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray in the Finder’s backyard. As Finder attempted to pet, Buzlightyear jumped up and left two small holes in her face. Buzlightyear allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during Look item, lip lick, ears back, eyes averted. While positioning for Sensitivity item, Buzlightyear was intent on mounting assessor and required redirection, walking around the room to settle down. Once positioned, Buzlightyear stood still and accepted the touch, ears back, mouth closed, body a bit tense when touched towards the back. He was distracted during Tag game and continually sniffed the room, unresponsive to each pass. Buzlightyear did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed minimal interest in first Toy offered, picking up the second Toy in his mouth but relinquished it easily. Buzlightyear approached the helper dog quickly and confidently, tail above spine level, not stiff. The Behavior Team feels Buzlightyear would do best with an Experienced adopter that does not have Children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, lip lick, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog intently attempts to mount, requires redirection, eventually stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense when handled towards back, mouth closed, lip long, ears back. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog may smell and/or lick, then turns away. Toy 2: 1. Dog, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog quickly and confidently, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward.
