03/31/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Butch came into our center after being found injured and tied to a pole along with another dog. He was very reactive to other dogs while inside his kennel, but once outside kennel walked past without issue. Butch pulled on leash for his relief walk. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, eyes wide and averted. Butch stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, body soft, low wag, open mouth. Tag item and paw Squeeze were skipped due to the nature of Butch’s injuries. He had no response to both Flank Squeezes, once released from position he was focused on the exit, whining. He showed no interest in Toy. Butch stood tall, square, and very still when approached by the helper dog, but did not approach. The Behavior Team feels Butch would do best with an Experienced adopter. He would benefit from a slow approach/slow introduction when first meeting his new adopters. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are wide and averted. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, mouth open. Flank squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 3. Dog stands perfectly stiff, head tall, and ears erect.
