Medical Summary 10/19/16 Dog presented hit by car and unable to walk, but would not allow anyone to safely remove him from transport van – lunging and attemtping to bite. Sedated with telazol 2.0 ml IM. Removed from van once sedate and transferred to medical. Microchip scan neg. Wearing a leather spiked collar, no tags. O: Sedated. HR=200, RR=28. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2s ORAL: Mild calculus, gingivitis. EENT: No oculonasal discharge. H/L: No murmurs/arrhythmias, lungs clear. ABD/UG: Intact male. NSF on abdominal palpation. MS: No palpable fractures or luxations. Slighly overweight body condition. INTEG: Right hind – 3 cm full thickness skin laceration on medial distal tibia. Multiple abrasions on left lat. elbow, lat. hind paws, medial left tarsus. Mild swelling medial left tarsus. Left metatarsal pad – 2.5 cm long deep laceration exposing pad tissue. 6 cm soft, mobile, SQ mass left flank. A: Multiple wounds, no evidence of fractures. Age est 7 years. P: Radiographs taken to assess for fractures- VD/Lat. pelvis/hind limbs: No fractures or luxations. Lat Right hind – no fractures or luxations. Flushed lacerations with sterile LRS. Prepped skin around R. hind laceration with chlorhex. scrub. Sharply debrided wound edges with #15 blade and closed with 3-0 Monosorb simple interrupted SQ and inradermal. Skin closed with surgical glue. Prepped pad left hind with chlorhex. scrub. Sharply excised exposed pad tissue with scissors and debrided wound edges with #15 blade. Closed with 3-0 Monosorb simple interrupted subcutis and pad. Carprofen 50 mg/ml 1.25 ml SQ. Rx Cephalexin 500 mg 2 PO BID x 10 days. Rx Rimadyl 100 mg 1.25 PO q 24 hours x 7 days (starttomorrow am). Monitor while at BACC. Good prognosis. Good recovery from sedation.
