I am a neutered male brown and black beagle and germ shepherd mix. The shelter thinks I am about 8 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 04/15/2016 from NY 11692, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB.

04/15/16 21:16 Behavior during intake: Buster had a loose, wiggly body throughout the intake process. He allowed me to collar him and take his photo with no issue. Basic Information: Buster was surrendered to MACC because his owner was hiding him in a building that does not allow dogs. He had the dog for four years but the building management told him that he is not allowed to have the dog there. It has been over four years since Buster was last seen by a vet. Socialization: Buster is a very friendly and outgoing dog. He loves his family and enjoys meeting strangers. He is good with infants and kids of all ages. He is gentle yet playful with both kids and adults. Buster lived with another beagle. They were respectful and very playful together. He is a very gentle dog. Behavor history: This relaxed guy has never bitten another animal or human. He does get nervous and tries to hide during thunderstorms or fireworks. Buster is friendly if someone touches his food bowl or takes a treat away from him. He does not mind beind pushed off of the couch. He loves a good grooming. Buster is a big fan of being brushed and getting baths. He will even show you his belly after bath time in hopes for a good belly rub. He does not like getting his nails trimmed, He will pull away. If a new person comes close to his family, Buster might bark. He loves his family. For a new family to know: Buster is described as an overly friendly dog. He can be both mellow and excitable. He is a very affectionate dog. He is highly active. When his owner is home with him he likes to follow close behind. When they are relaxing he likes to be on top of them. Buster loves all kinds of toys. He loves to chase balls and play tug of war. He has been kept mostly indoors but did have a lot of outdoor time. Buster usually likes to sleep on one of the kid’s beds. He is used to a mix of both wet and dry food. He normally would be fed in the morning and at night. Buster is very good about going to the bathroom outdoors. He is very well behaved if he is left alone at home. Buster knows how to sit, come, and stay on command. He is used to getting outside at least 3 times a day. He does pull on the leash when he is on a walk. Buster is an amazing dog and he would be a great addition to almost any home!

Buster came into our center as an owner surrender citing housing issues. Owner reports Buster is good with infants and children of all ages, gentle yet playful. It is reported Buster lived with a beagle, respectful and very playful together. It is reported Buster is not bothered if anyone touches his Food, Toys, Treats. He is described as overly friendly and affectionate. Owner reports Buster is housebroken and well behaved if left home alone. He reportedly knows how to sit, come, and stay on command. During intake, Buster had a loose, wiggly body and allowed all handling. He walked very well on leash for his relief walk, no pulling. Buster was calm and quiet upon entering SAFER assessment room, relaxed. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, eyes averted. Buster stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, mouth open, ears neutral. He was distracted and unresponsive during Tag game, focused on other stimuli. Buster did not pull his paw back on first Squeeze attempt, lip lick, but quickly pulled it back on second Squeeze attempt, though he may have been have a balance issue. Buster showed no interest in Toy, should be noted this may be due to environment as owner reports he loves all kinds of toys, loves to chase balls and play tug of war. Buster approached the helper dog a bit slowly, tail above spine level, not stiff. The Behavior Team feels Buster would do well with an Average adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, open mouth Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog does not pull back paw, lip lick Squeeze 2: 2 Dog quickly pulls back paw. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog slowly, tail above spine level
