10/10/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/10/16 17:00 Bundles is friendly around strangers and is great with kids, he is playful and gentle. Around other dogs he won’t even bark he is very calm and relaxed and the same goes for cats, he is calm around them and sometimes doesn’t acknowledge them and does not play with cats. Bundles is house trained but if he really has to go he will use the bathroom in the bathtub. He does not mind having his food, treats or toys touched or taken while he has them. He is not bothered by being bathed or brushed. Bundles has a medium level of activity at home. He will follow his owner around the house. He knows the command s sit and give me paw. He does not pull on the leash and can be walked without a leash and will listen to you and stay by your side or come when called. He is fed dry food. Bundles allows handling but is nervous and appreciates slow patient handling at first.
10/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: This is the face of love. This is the face of ‘I want to be your friend’. This is the face of ‘can we be together forever?’. So sweet looking and quiet in his kennel, his soft face and imploring eyes absolutely delivered as we spent time together. Easily leashed and out the door, Bundles potties immediately and we’re off to the park. His leash manners are lovely, he’s easy peasy to walk allowing us both to enjoy the chilly morning. Once the business of photos was taken care of (he’s a great model), Bundles joined me on the bench for some hugs and kisses. Yes, he thinks he’s a lap dog! The person who found him tells us that Bundles was playful and gentle with children, calm with cats, is housetrained, and knows ‘sit’ and ‘give me paw’, both of which he demonstrated for me in exchange for a treat which he takes so softly. On our way back to the building we passed a group of young children bouncing around in the street. Bundles was polite, respectful and gentle with the kids. Such a good boy. On his first playdate Bundles greets the helper dog and tries to mount (he needs to be altered). I fell in love with this sweet boy who needs a bit of TLC for his coat, but his demeanor and loving personality is perfect as is. But, don’t take my word for it, come see for yourself. Ask to meet him today.
10/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Limited profile (had dog for two weeks) Unaltered, Surrender Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward children: Playful/gentle Behavior toward dogs: Calm/relaxed Behavior toward cats: Calm FG/RG: None reported Bite history: Unknown/none reported Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Medium activity level Other notes: Bundles knows the cues “sit” and “give me paw.” He does not pull on leash. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 10/12/2016 Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog leans into the Assessor, , lip long Tag: 2. Dog jumps up hard on assessor during game, briefly grabs leash (playfully vocalized) but is easily distracted and relinquishes. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, grabs it slightly but mostly focused on other stimuli, licking and sniffing the floor. Summary: Bundles displayed exuberant energy and appears to lack impulse control; he may benefit best from mental/physical stimulation. PLAYGROUP: 10/12: Bundles’ finder had him for two weeks, and he was described as ‘calm’ in the presence of other dogs. When introduced off leash to another dog at the care center, Bundles approaches and greets. He then immediately attempts to persistantly mount the female greeter dog. He is currently unaltered. Due to limited history and observation, the behavior department feels that Bundles would highly benefit from having a pre-adoption interaction to ensure compatibility with a resident dog. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/11/2016 During his initial medical examination, Bundles appeared nervous, displayed appropriate warning signals (growling), though tolerated handling upon a slow approach. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training is recommended.)
