“Buddy Sierra is the sweetest ever! He wants you to know how cute he is if you haven’t already noticed. This 14 year old wants you to know that he is young at heart! Don’t be fooled by his age! He is a ball of fun and is friendly toward both children and other dogs. He doesn’t mind strangers and it only takes him seconds to warm up to you. Buddy Sierra’s previous owner unfortunately was not able to care for him any longer and he ended up at our facility. You will quickly see for yourself how sweet Buddy Sierra is when you meet him, as he will most likely try to get all your attention and ask for a couple of rubs too! Don’t miss your chance to meet this doll at MACC!”

NAME
Buddy Sierra
REASON FOR SURRENDER
Due to time constraints, owner can no longer take care of Buddy Sierra
RELATIONSHIP
Buddy Sierra’s previous owner got him from a friend about 12 years ago. He is currently about 14 years old. He scanned negative for a microchip
PEOPLE
He lives in a home with adults. He is usually playful around children and he can play somewhat roughly. Owner states that he likes to nibble when he plays. He usually isn’t bothered by strangers who approach his house or family. He has bitten his owner before, but he hasn’t bitten anyone in the past 10 days.
OTHER ANIMALS
He has not lived with other animals, but he has interacted with other dogs. Owner states the he usually tries to mount every dog he sees and that he usually doesn’t play with them. It should be noted that he rarely interacts with other dogs. He has never bitten another animal.
PERSONALITY
He is a very active mostly indoor dog who has been described as playful, very vocal, mellow, very confident, and friendly. Owner states that he always greets her when she comes home. He enjoys going for slow walks on leash twice daily. He also loves playing with stuffed toys. He isn’t bothered if you touch his food bowl while he is eating, if you take away a treat, if you move him off the furniture, if you hold or restrain him, or if you disturb him while he is sleeping. He is playful when you take away a toy. He is afraid during baths and coat brushings and tries to get away. He tends to follow his owner around or stay in a favorite spot when she is home.
He eats Purina Dog Chow dry food and his favorite treats are Milk bones. He likes to go potty on the dirt. He usually sleeps in his dog bed.
TRAINING
He knows sit, give five, come, and go mimi (go sleep). He is well-behaved when left alone in the house and isn’t left alone in a yard. He is house-trained and usually only has accidents when he isn’t walked around the same time every day. He has been crate-trained, but he doesn’t do well.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
He was relaxed during the intake, had a soft body and allowed petting and handling. He tensed a bit when I first picked him up to place him on the counter, but quickly relaxed again. When he wasn’t receiving attention, he pawed at my leg and was eager to be petted and receive ear rubs.
