08/21/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: We’ve all been warned that staring at the solar eclipse will cause damage to your eyes, but I’m hear to warn you that staring at Buddy will cause your heart to melt into a puddle! His eyes all but talk (and they are fluent in every language!) and he has so much love to give that I have no idea where he stores it all. He has been very easy to walk on leash, seems housebroken, and is treat motivated. He cries for attention from his cage sometimes but that’s because a cuddler of his class belongs at the side of a person. The way he wags his tail when spoken to is COMPLETELY endearing, he gently licks the inside of my elbow when I scratch his butt, and he even gives little love nibbles. There are no glasses or things you can make from a cereal box to protect yourself from Buddy’s incredibly soft personality and affectionate ways, so my best advice is just to embrace it! Come meet him at Brooklyn ACC, let your heart melt, let Buddy help you mop it up (he’s that kind of guy!), and get on with your adventures together!
08/16/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: None 8/14/17 Unaltered Male, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 8/16/17 Look:1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity:1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag:1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Buddy was very friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. PLAYGROUP: Buddy was brought in as a stray, so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown. When off leash at the Care Center, Buddy displays a soft but sexually motivated posture with a novel male and female dog. He attempts to mounts, but ceases the behavior when handlers interrupt. He explores the pens the rest of the session. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 8/14/17: Upon intake Buddy was calm with loose body posture, he allowed all handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/15/17: During his medical examination, Buddy was friendly and attention seeking, he allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Buddy so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
08/15/2017 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Buddy was brought in as a stray, so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown. 8/15: When off leash at the Care Center, Buddy displays a soft but sexually motivated posture. He attempts to mounts, but ceases the behavior when the novel female dog offers him an appropriate correction. He continues to explore the yard, the rest of the session. 8/16: Buddy displays a vibrating tail when introduced to a novel male dog. After a brief genital sniff, he wanders the pens, mostly keeping himself. 8/17: Buddy displays a soft posture at the gate, but once he is let into the pen he becomes persistently sexually motivated and is difficult to interrupt. He follows the other dogs around the pen, with his chin over his back.
