Very tense. limited exam. s/o: only incisors seen–cleam, heart and lungs wnl, 2 testis, clean coat, een: red sclera, probably from struggle during intake. a: healthy. p: neuter
PROFILE :
Owner stated dog, Buddy is aggressive towards strangers and children. Buddy has lunged, growled, bared teeth and attempted to attack anyone that comes near him when he is walked. Upon intake Buddy lunged, growled, barked and displayed aggressive behavior. Please take precaution when handling Buddy.
BASIC INFORMATION:
Buddy is a 4yr old, male brown brindle and white Mastiff/American Pit bull terr mix. Buddy was bred at home and has no known health issues. Buddy has been surrendered to ACC due to pet conflict and personal problems.
SOCIALIZATION:
Buddy displays aggressive behavior towards strangers and children. Buddy will bark, lunge, growl and may attempt to attack anyone that passes by while he is walked. Buddy has not resided with other animals and when he is exposed to dogs or cats, he will bark, lunge, growl and may attempt to attack. Buddy has not bitten another animal or person within the past 10 days.
BEHAVIOR: When Buddy is left unattended he will chew on house hold furniture and items. During fireworks /storms Buddy will hide. Buddy allows the owner to come near him while he is eating, the owner can remove items from his mouth with ease. Buddy allows bathing and grooming but may run from the water if he becomes frightened. Buddy does not like to have a muzzle and will take it off. Buddy was not socialized over the past 4 years and displays aggressive behavior when strangers/animals come near him. Buddy lunges, growls, bares teeth, barks and may attack if given the chance.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW:
Buddy is best described as a loyal, affectionate, playful and affectionate towards his owner. Buddy’s activity level is very active and he loves to go running/jogging. Buddy does not play with toys but enjoys chew bones. Buddy has been kept mostly outdoors in his heated dog house, but is free to come in the home at any time. Buddy enjoys eating wet/dry food and also enjoys home cooked chicken and rice. Buddy is house trained and prefers to go potty on cement. Buddy is familiar with commands sit and quiet. When buddy is walked he pulls very hard.
BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE:
Upon intake, Buddy did not allow the counselor to come near, he lunged, growled bared teeth and attempted to attack. Unable to scan or collar
PLAYGROUP:
According to Buddy’s previous owner, when Buddy sees dogs, he will bark, lunge, and growl.
2/18: An attempt was made to remove Buddy from his kennel. Due to his immediate display of reactivity, jumping and slamming his body against the kennel door while barking and growling, he was not able to be removed from his kennel for playgroup at this time.
