My name is BUDDY. My Animal ID # is A1097370.
I am a neutered male black and white cairn terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 5 YEARS old.

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/19/2016 from NY 10025, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
11/28/2016 Exam Type OBSERVATION – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 27.0 LBS.

11/28/16 15:56 vomiting once reported BAR in cage continue monitor 11/21/16 14:47 s/o: calm for exam OU hyperpigmented, dry surface to corneas, crusty dc ou au yeasty otitis , hyperkeratosis moderate tartar heart and lungs wnl abd wnl large “hot spot” lesion on left sacral area: red, moist dermatitis, denuded of hair a: pyoderma otitis kcs P: kcs is manageable with cyclosporine long term, tab short term the other conditions are treatable: pyoderma will treat with cephalexin 250mg bid x 10d otitis clean ears and treat with otibiotic x 10d good prognosis with attentive owner 11/19 Microchip: 985112000459262 Sex: neutered male Age: appx 5y+ Mentation: QARH Eyes: possible kcs appearance (thick membranous d/c over eyes) Ears: otitis (thick pinnae, flaking skin and yellow, waxy debris, dog shakes head after exam) Nose: no d/c Teeth: underbite with moderate calculus and mild staining If abnormal BCS: overweight Skin: see below Hair Coat: WNL Declawed: N/A Any injuries: no wound indicated on intake but dog pulled from kennel with a large area of epidermis sloughing off, hair and skin were peeling back in patches over an ~5″ area over tail base and left flank (vaccine reaction? moist derm damage like a burn) Behavior: allowed all handling but tense and nervous Medication: N/A, preventatives given (withheld activyl due to skin condition) and vet exam pending

11/19/16 16:12 Basic Information Buddy is an approximate 2 year old neutered Cairn terrier mix. He was found by Central Park wandering loose. Finder stated Buddy just came right up to him. Buddy tolerated all handling. No signs of aggression were displayed while under the care of the finder. Behavior during Intake Buddy tolerated all handling. No signs of aggression were displayed.

KNOWN HISTORY: Altered, Stray Other notes: Upon intake Buddy tolerated all handling. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/21/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves his legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest, dog sniffs toy. Summary: Buddy displayed no behavioral concerns on his assessment. PLAYGROUP: When off leash with other dogs Buddy ignores interaction and will move away when sniffed. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/19/16 During his initial medical exam Buddy was tense and appeared nervous but tolerated all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (Suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
