MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
11/15/2016 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 40.0 LBS.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/1/2016 Buddy was very nervous but allowed all handling during his initial medical exam. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13)(See known history/bite history) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Though Buddy has presented no concern during his stay at our care centers, because of his multiple bite history, the behavior department believes Buddy would benefit best from placement with a New Hope Only rescue who can further assess his behavior in a home environment. We advise seeking placement with an experienced foster who can appropriately manage/modify Buddy’s behavior.) Potential challenges: _X_Mouthiness/Poor bite inhibition (Decreasing the force of the mouth as well as the frequency of mouthing, in this order is recommended by using force-free, reward based training as well to reinforce a soft appropriate mouth and redirect hard inappropriate mouthing onto toys.) _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (See known history; Buddy may easily startle and may be made uncomfortable by loud noises and sudden movement. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations. Force-free, reward based training is advised. Guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is recommended.)
07/12/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/16/16 16:13 Basic Information: Buddy is a 6 month old unneutered male Borden Collie/Beagle mix that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Buddy for 5 months. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers, Buddy is friendly and likes to say hi to everyone. Owner has a 10 year old child in the home & stated that Buddy was usually tolerant of her. Buddy is friendly with other children and plays gently. Owne did not have any other animals in the home but did state that whenever she would walk Buddy and he would notice another cat or dog outside, he would pull to go over to them and his tail would be wagging. Buddy was never bit another animal but has bit a few people since owner has had him in the home. Behavior: Buddy is very scared of thunderstorms or fireworks and will go hide under the table or behind the owner on the couch. He is friendly when owner would take away his food, treats or toys, and when owner would give him a bath. When owner would push him off furniture, he would jump back on it. He is not bothered by being disturbed while sleeping or when owner would brush his coat. Buddy did not like his nails trimmed & would bark and try to nip during the process. When unfamiliar people would approach the home, he would bark. For a New Family to Know: Buddy is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable, aloof, fearful, and anxious with a very high activity level. In the home, Buddy would follow owner around & be in the same room as her. He was kept indoors only & is partially house-trained. He would have accidents a few times a week when owner would leave him alone in the home. Buddy is crate trained and would spend a few hrs in the crate a day. He knows the commands sit, and come. For exercise, owner would take him on slow walks on the leash or take him to the beach. When on the leash, Buddy tends to pull very hard. When kept off leash, Buddy will wander but comes back when name is called. Owners favorite thing about Buddy is how snuggly he is with her & how he loves to give people kisses. Behavior during intake: Buddy was nervous and moving away from me. I was able to scan him and collar him w.o any issues. After a few minutes, he relaxed and came over to me and let me pet him without any issues.
11/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Are you looking for a beautiful, playful pup, who loves to play ball? Then look no further. Buddy is a stunning beauty, who loves balls and toys. He will also drop the ball for you so you can throw it again and again. Buddy has a happy face painted on all the time, just like a party clown would have. What I love about Buddy the most, is that he is always chipper and ready to entertain, and never in a bad mood. So if you’re ready for action, Buddy is your type. Come down to the shelter and meet this little heartbreaker, and watch Buddy’s bright eyes beam with excitement.
