05/23/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Mr. Blue Eyes is more like it. Wowza, is this dog stunning to look at! But that can’t compare to the dearness of his company. He keeps his kennel so neat, even though he waits a long time to be walked, and appears to be house trained…he walks so nicely on a leash, and he is SOOOO SWEEETTT!!!! So tooth-achingly sweet we’re thinking a monster tooth ache must be a nice thing, because how could it be anything but wonderful to be in the presence of this guy? He wags his tail like crazy, takes treats like an angel, and after hugging and kissing and showing his gratitude to his walker, dearly lies down on the grass to enjoy the day. We would love Bruce Lee to have a summer full of walks in the park, only not by the volunteers but by his new, forever family. Please, come meet this super star! Another volunteer writes: Sweet…gentle…gorgeous…a good boy…even before I’d met Bruce Lee I’d heard his praises being sung to the skies, and I’m pleased to report he’s doing a fine job of living up to his rep! Just as handsome and athletic as his famous namesake, Bruce’s smooth good looks draw admirers from all walks of life, and a stroll down the street feels like a turn on the red carpet with this celebrity by your side. Bruce has his silly moments too, and back in the yard he lets loose with a plush toy, playing fetch and tug and then simply shaking the dickens out of it with a mischievous twinkle in his pretty eyes. He loves other dogs just a much as he does people, is unfailingly polite and friendly in playgroup and earned high praise in his behavior evaluation too, setting himself up nicely for adoption into almost any kind of family. To quote the more famous Mr. Lee, ‘If you love life don’t waste time, for time is what life is made up of’. So what are you waiting for? Hurry in to the Manhattan Care Center and scoop up your very own blue-eyed Bruce today!

05/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bruce Lee came in as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. He was quiet upon intake and allowed all handling. He was nervous during his initial medical exam, required time to warm up. Bruce Lee walked well on leash for his relief walk, no pulling. Bruce Lee was sociable and friendly upon entering SAFER assessment room, jumping up whole body into handler’s lap. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. Bruce Lee stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears and tail neutral. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, became playful at the end, jumping up lightly. He quickly pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, sniffing assessor’s hand. Bruce Lee kept a firm grip on Toy, loose body. When off leash with other dogs, Bruce Lee greets politely and shows continued interest. The Behavior Team feels Bruce Lee would do well with an Average adopter. He would do best with daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of walks, runs, exercise, and play to positively direct his enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, playfully jumps up lightly at end of game Squeeze 1/ 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back paw Toy 1. Dog playfully engages, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Bruce Lee greets politely and shows continued interest.

05/22/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Bruce Lee has mostly displayed sexually motivated behavior, but has begun to also display interest in play. He arrived as a stray so in home behavior is unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre adoption interaction before placement with a resident dog. When off leash with other dogs, Bruce Lee greets politely and shows continued interest. He displays slightly sexually motivated behaviors such as sniffing and licking, but doesn’t attempt to mount. 5/24 update: Bruce Lee displays sexually motivated behavior. 5/25 update: Bruce Lee continues to display sexually motivated behavior. He is slightly tense while greeting a male, but does not approach further. 5/26 update: Bruce Lee is a bit sexually motivated. He is less tense around a male dog today and runs along side of him while the other dogs engage in play. 5/27 update: Bruce Lee offers a brief greeting to the helper dog but is more interested in activity going on in an adjacent pen. 5/28 update: Bruce Lee engages in bouncy play with a female. He is tolerant of mounting and will solicit play rather than offering correction. 5/29 update: Bruce Lee greets politely, sniffs, then roams in a pen with males and females.
