GONE 10/09/17

Brooklyn 7815 (ALT ID# A1126599)

Hello, my name is Brooklyn. My animal id is #7815. I am a desexed male white dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 5 years 1 weeks old.

I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.

My medical notes are…

Weight: 59.375 lbs

Re-exam CCL rupture LHL History : Presents as owner surrender 9/25. Had CCL rupture and was prescribed rimadyl. Presents today for recheck lameness 9/26: 2 view pelvic and LHL rads: osteophytes around patella and stifle with widening of stafle. Mild hip dysplasia. Decreased acetabular coverage on the left. On brief ortho exam there was positive cranial drawer and medial buttress of the left stifle according to Dr. 1431. Appears to be chronic ACL/meniscal injury Objective BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, no nasal discharge noted H/L: No c/s MSI: Ambulatory x 3, toe touching lameness left hind leg CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Lameness LHL- r/o soft tissue vs cruciate rupture vs other Otitis externa Skin Tumor- r/o malignant vs benign Plan Rec ortho consult Continue Rimadyl 4.4 mg/kg PO SID x14d Recheck in 14 days CBC/Chem tomorrow Prognosis: Good but will likely need surgical intervention. There is a 50% chance his right CCL will rupture as well.

Details on my behavior are…

Adults, spent time with children and dogs. Behavior toward strangers: Friendly and outgoing Behavior toward children: Relaxed, playful Behavior toward dogs: Respectful and playful Behavior toward cats: Unknown Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: Yes, A stray dog broke into the owner yard and attacked Brooklyn. Brooklyn did bite the other and broke skin. It was reported Brooklyn had no open wounds on him. Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: The owner describes Brooklyn as friendly, affectionate and playful with a high activity level. Date of assessment: 5-Oct-2017 Summary: Brooklyn has allowed minimal handling from his caretakers. He can be reactive towards other dogs and with the leash when handled by a staff member. He will bite on the leash and towards the handler hands with tense body language. Out of concern for his stress levels and his response to restraint, we feel Brooklyn is not a great candidate for a handling assessment at this time. Date of intake: 25-Sep-2017 Summary: Loose and wiggly, allowed all handling. Date of initial: 25-Sep-2017 Summary: Cautious- allows all handling with relaxed body posture. BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: NEW HOPE ONLY Behavior Asilomar H – Healthy Recommendations: No children (under 13) Place with a New Hope partner Recommendations comments: New Hope: Brooklyn has not acclimated well to the shelter environment and has allowed only minimal handling when he see other dogs. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: Leash-biting Potential challenges comments: Leash biting: Brooklyn displays some leashing biting concerns in the care center. When he becomes focused on another dog he sometimes redirect his behavior towards the handler. Brooklyn will bite on the leash and towards the handler hands with tense body language. Recommendations Adoption Recommendations: Comments: Suitability With Children: Other: 10/5/ New Hope Only10/5/ New Hope Only
