09/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brooklyn previously lived with adults, a cat, and another dog and has been around children. The owner stated Brooklyn friendly and playful around strangers, adults and children. The owner mentioned Brooklyn lived with a cat and another dog and was fine around each other. It was reported by the owner Brooklyn is house broken, has a high energy level and is well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Brooklyn was very friendly and allowed all handling. During SAFER Brooklyn came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Brooklyn joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Brooklyn was easy to handle when engaged with the item. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Brooklyn is nervous as he greets the female dogs with a tense face and low, leaned back body. He is sensitive to the female dogs greeting, lip curling and air snapping. The behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend a thorough dog to dog interaction before being place into a permanent home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Brooklyn is nervous as he greets the female dogs with a tense face and low, leaned back body. He is sensitive to the female dogs greeting, lip curling and air snapping.
