04/04/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/04/16 13:29 Brooklyn was found as a stray this morning but has been seen wandering the area in the past. He is shy at first and approaches with his tail tucked. He allowed to be pet and he ate treats offered to him. He warmed up to couneslor after a few mintues of petting his head. He remained nervous but allowed all handling without concerning behaviors.
04/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Brooklyn is among the sweetest boys in all the five boroughs, and beyond! He is missing fur on his back and with his docile ways has quickly won over the medical staff that tends to it…and it’s easy to see why! He wants to be close to his person and is incredibly affectionate. He is always very gently propping his paws up to solicit petting and attempts to stay forever — even if he gets tired and has to rest his back end on the ground, he maintains contact with his paws (and those doe-eyes!). He is easy on leash, seems housebroken, and takes treats very softly. When we met another male dog through a fence he was very waggy and interested and seemed to look for him after he’d left. When I bring him in the yard he briefly chases a toy, but is mostly interested in cuddling. Sometimes he’ll even weasel his way between my knees if I’m standing and stay there as I walk around — like our own version of when children stand on a parent’s feet and “dance.” Brooklyn has a lot of love to give — come get some of it at Brooklyn ACC! Another volunteer writes: What a great boy! Not only is Brooklyn great on the leash but he is also housebroken! Brooklyn is clearly a big people lover and he keeps walking in the wrong direction and brushing up against me. He plays it cool, but I’m pretty sure he’s just asking to be petted, and I gladly oblige. This guy would be the perfect companion for long walks or for snuggling and watching some Netflix. Come meet him today!
04/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brooklyn came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Brooklyn was shy and nervous but did allow all handling. During SAFER Brooklyn came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Brooklyn was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Brooklyn was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Brooklyn appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Brooklyn is hesitant to approach the gate and is more interested in exploring the environment. Eventually he does approach and greet with a still, soft body. When let in the pen to interact, Brooklyn is mostly sexually motivated in his interactions.
04/05/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, Brooklyn is hesitant to approach the gate and is more interested in exploring the environment. Eventually he does approach and greet with a still, soft body. When let in the pen to interact, Brooklyn is mostly sexually motivated in his interactions. 4/13 update: Brooklyn is much looser today but once let into the pen with the helper dog he immediately becomes sexually motivated, attempting to mount and is persistent after both interruptions by the handlers and corrections by the dog.
