07/05/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Handsome Brody should have been a movie star! He’s gorgeous, and although too thin in my opinion, his coat is a magnificent color highlighted with golden threads that positively glow when the sun hits him. Don’t forget your sun glasses when you meet him! He makes the best faces – from wide eyed and smiling, to soft and sweet, to serious (but still sweet!). Outside for a walk he goes potty and looks up at me with the cutest expression and a tail wag waiting for his “good boy” and a treat. My heart melted it was so cute. In the yard Brody and I sit together on the bench exchanging some kisses, Brody then bouncing after a ball but not retrieving. After a few tries at ‘sit’, once Brody realized a treat follows ‘sit’, he did it each time! How smart is he! He’ll be easy to train with positive reinforcement rewards. He’s an awesome dog who’s ready to make someone the companion of a lifetime. Don’t miss your chance, come meet him today!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brody pulls hard on the leash. He was not sociable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Brody during the sensitivity stands tall and square. His tail perpendicular to spine, mouth closed. He some concern during the tag interaction: growled and tried to bite the assessor at the beginning of the game. Brody showed some concerning behavior during toy tests – stiffening and freezing but did not escalate to a snap or bite to the assess-a-hand. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
