Does he scratch at the door when he needs to ‘go potty’? Rumor has it! Does he love having a bath and being groomed with his electric brush? You betcha! And is he a big fan of the back massage? Ooooh yeah, there’s a smile for that! Full of energy, full of fun and full of love, Brock is ready to fill his new home with sunshine and smiles from day one and he’ll make the perfect playmate for an active family of any size. 06/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brock came to us as an owner surrender due to the owner having allergies related to Brock. According to the owner Brock lived with two children and was around the owner’s nephew and nieces ranging from 1 to 20 years of age. Around the children Brock was said to be great with them and was very tolerant and playful with them. Brock has only played with two other dogs but the owner’s did not socialize him with other dogs because he would lunge and bark at them when on the street. It was reported that Brock is not bothered if his food, toys or treats are touched. Brock entered the behavior room with soft and loose body language. He was very interested in interacting with the assessor and appeared to be very playful. Brock allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining soft body language. During the tag interaction he joined in play and calmed quickly at the end of the item. Brock did not show interest in the toy item, but did instead play with the assess-a-hand as a toy instead. We believe that Brock can go to an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, and open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. He indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog engages with assess-a-hand as toy but let’s go quickly as the assessor pulls it back from him. 6/7: When off leash with other dogs, Brock whines at the gate, enters and is persistantly sexually motivated, even chasing after the female greeter when she runs away.
06/07/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Brock initially dsplayed sexually motivated behaviors when introduced off-leash to a female helper dog. It should be noted that Brock is an unaltered male. As of recent, when solicited with play, Brock has begun to engage. However, it’s observed that he will continue attempting to mount when play ceases. Brock has not yet been introduced to a male dog while in our care. His previous owner cites “. Owner states that he has only ever played with two dogs but is not sure how he would be with other dogs. Owners have never tried because he would always bark at the other dogs walking by and would lunge.” The behavior department feels that Brock should be given time to decompress in a new environment before immediate introduction to other dogs outside the shelter. Introductions should be done slowly at a comfortable pace for Brock and any resident dog. 6/7: When off leash with other dogs, Brock whines at the gate, enters and is persistantly sexually motivated, even chasing after the female greeter when she runs away. 6/8: Brock is persistantly sexually motivated. 6/11 update: Brock is again sexually motivated but when solicited with play he will engage. He bows and bounces around but ulitmately attempts to mount when the helper dog takes a break from play. 6/12: Brock engages in play when solicited. He will attempt to mount when play stops.
