06/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chief Ziggy previously lived with adults and a teenager. The owner stated Chief was friendly, playful, and affectionate and would follow the teenager around the house. The owner describes Chief as goofy, playful, energetic, and excitable loyal and affectionate. The owner mentioned Chief also lived with two small dogs but he was reactive towards them, he would bark wildly and attempt to go after them. It was reported by the owner Chief is house broken, crate trained and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Chief was jump and bark but once approach by the counselor he was calm and relaxed, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Chief Ziggy came into the assessment room very loose and wiggly, he was friendly and super playful towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Chief joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Chief was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Chief Ziggy appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner Chief can be reactive to small breed animals, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend no small breed animals in the home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Dog licks hand. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: Chief Ziggy is a hyper-motivated player. He greets the other dog with a large play bow and a lot of wiggles. Once the gate opens he explodes into the pen with high energy right up into the other dogs face and jumps around on her back. She gives him a clear correction and he responds immediately, but only briefly.
11/27/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
11/27/15: When off leash with other dogs, Brinx is very forward at the gate so he is muzzled. Once in the pen, he greets softly and is tolerant of solicitation. The muzzle is removed and he engages in brief bouts of play. He is a bit pushy while playing but takes correction well. 6/26: Chief Ziggy’s (previously known as Brinx) owner stated that he needed to separate him from the other two dogs in the home because he would bark wildly and go after them. Chief Ziggy is a hyper-motivated player. He greets the other dog with a large play bow and a lot of wiggles. Once the gate opens he explodes into the pen with high energy right up into the other dogs face and jumps around on her back. She gives him a clear correction and he responds immediately, but only briefly. He also interacts with the handlers and is extremely anxious- whining, jumping and constantly moving. 6/27: We attempted to introduce Chief Ziggy to a high energy, rowdy player but she greeted him at the gate stiffly and began barking most likely because he was pacing frantically and jumping up onto the gate.
