Hello, my name is Brick . My animal id is #11958. I am a male tan dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 07-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- cannot afford to care for.
Bricks is at risk due to being diagnosed with neurologic disease. Bricks is not doing well medically and will benefit from placement outside the care center.

Allowed all handling, turned and growled during neuro exam of hind limbs Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Dilated pupils, normal menace and palpebral, minimal PLR, moderate brown waxy debris AU, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Moderate dental tartar, pink mm PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, generalized dry flaky hair coat with areas of alopecia CNS: mentation appropriate, ataxic, high stepped gait, normal CP Assessment: Senior pet, neurologic disease – R/O neoplasia/ brain tumor vs other, dermatitis Plan: Scheduled for CBC/Chem Prognosis: guarded SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to neurologic disease

Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
Upon intake Bick was pacing in the room his tail was wagging and he was panting. He allowed the counselor to approach himn and pet his head and body. While the counselor was trying to remove his collar he snap at the counselor and was not collared.

Basic Information:: Brick is a 7 year old unalterd male Medium dog. He came to his home froma friend as a puppy. He was surredered due to the owner being unable to pay for his health issues.
Previously lived with:: 3 adults, 1 cat
How is this dog around strangers?: Around strangers Brick is sometimes shy or aloof and allows the individual to approach and pet him.
How is this dog around children?: Brick lived been around the owner’s 2 and 3 year old grandchildren. He is relaxec and gentle around the children.
How is this dog around other dogs?: Brick is very curious when he sees another dog. He brisk and pulls and wants to interact with them.
How is this dog around cats?: Brick has lived with a male cat since he was a puppy,so he is relaxed around the cat and keeps to himself.
Resource guarding:: When someone tries to go near Brick’s food or toy he will growl or Snap. Brick isn’t bothered during a bathe but struggles during a nail trim.
Bite history:: Brick has no bite history

Has this dog ever had any medical issues?: Yes
Medical Notes: Brick has trouble controlling his balance when he walks and runs in to walls. Brick also has some possible Skin allergies that are causing hair loss.
For a New Family to Know: Brick was described as friendly, Playful , mellow with a medium activity level. He likes to stay in his own spot and is fed Purin dry food mix with Table food 2 times a day. Brick is Partially Potty but as of lately is has been having accidents in the home daily. When inside the home Brick in remained tied in the living room, and goes out into the back yard to excerise and use the bathroom. Brick does pull Ligthly and wander some when he is off leash but comes back when called.
