05/05/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Brandy previously lived with adults and a 3 year old child. The owner stated Brandy is relaxed, affectionate and gentle around the children. The owner mentioned Brandy does not do well around cats and tends to lunge and bark at them. The owner describes Brandy as friendly, affectionate, playful, and excitable. It was reported by the owner Brandy is house trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Brandy was friendly and allowed all handling. During SAFER Brandy came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Brandy was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Brandy was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Brandy showed some concerns during dog to dog interaction, so the department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend no cats in the household. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: The previous over reported Brandy has been around other dogs of various ages and is playful and gentle around them. When off leash with other dogs at the Care Centers, Brandy greets nervously and is proximity sensitive, lip curling when the greeter dog is close to her face.
