08/04/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Two unlikely companions came to us as sadly, their owner died. Tuka, the MinPin and Booboo, the handsome Shepherd. They both are sociable, which usually stems from good genes and kind treatment. Booboo is a ten year old gentleman, well dressed in a salt and pepper coat, trim and quite friendly-looking in his kennel. His intelligent eyes shine, although they are slightly cloudy. He owns a few calluses and a single sore on his back. I thought at first that Booboo was a little weak…I was so wrong. Booboo is leashed in no time, ignores a dog who is barking intensely at us, and takes the street at a great pace. He literally prances… I did not expect this, and I am pleasantly surprised. Many dogs are met, big and small. Booboo is totally cool with them. He is likely housetrained and does his business without marking. He likes my treats and will sit for them. In the park, Booboo does not go after the birds or the squirrels, is perfectly tolerant of noises, people, kids and bikes. He is a bit lost without his old family, but caresses as well as gentle words help. Booboo is a sweetheart, a gentle and well-mannered dog, well brought up by his former human, and who, if well cared for and loved again, will make an awesome pet companion. A loyal friend you will get if you open your home and your heart to wonderful Booboo.
