09/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Boo Berry came into our center after a member of the public called the police because a stray dog jumped into their car through an open window. Police stated she was easily placed into a crate. During intake, Boo Berry was nervous and timid, tail tucked, snapped at microchip scanner. Boo Berry allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during Look item, relaxed. She leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, open mouth, ears back. She followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, a bit fearful, crouched on last pass. Boo Berry was uncomfortable with handler after Tag item, a bit difficult to position, lip lick. Once positioned, she did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts, tail down. She showed minimal interest in Toy. Boo Berry did not approach the helper dog. The Behavior Team feels Boo Berry would do best with an Experienced adopter in an adult only home. She may benefit initially from a slow approach/slow introduction, as well as initially going home to a calm, quiet, structured environment to give her time to relax and warm up at her own pace. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, ears back, open mouth Tag: 3. body a bit fearful, turns away last pass. Squeeze 1 / 2 : 2. Does not pull back paw, tail down Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, then walks away. Dog – dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog.
