Bonny
Hello, my name is Bonny. My animal id is #20104. I am a desexed female gray dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old.
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 06-Feb-2018.
Bonny was placed at risk due to behavior concerns; Due to the warning and distance-increasing behaviors shown in the care center, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide force free behavior modification to address the biting and underlying anxiety.

Details on my behavior are…
Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
Date of intake:: 2/6/2018
Spay/Neuter status:: Yes
Means of surrender (length of time in previous home):: Stray
Date of assessment:: 2/8/2018
Summary:: Bonny appears to be uncomfortable or afraid of the slip lead. She has also allowed minimal handling from her caretakers. Bonny would growl and hard bark when her kennel is approached, once she is out of her kennel and attempt to be pet she head flips and increase her distance. Out of concern for her stress levels and her response to restraint, we feel Penelope is not a great candidate for a handling assessment at this time.
Summary (1):: Bonny was brought in as stray with one other resident dogs but limited information was provided, so her past behavior around other dogs is unknown. 2/7: Bonny approached the approached the novel male dog for a fences greet with a tense posture and high tail. She slowly began to growl, then muzzle punch the fence. Due to the behavior she displayed, we did not feel comfortable introducing them off leash. We also did not feel comfortable muzzling her due to the behaviors she displayed when handlers were near neck-tense posture, hard stares. She will be given another day to acclimate to the shelter.

Potential challenges: : Fearful/potential for defensive aggression
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential foe defensive aggression: Reactivity towards other humans was at intake (growling and hard barking). Because this appears to present a challenge outside of the care centers, guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly advised to assess this behavior and modify/manage as needed.
