Medical Summary Sex: Male neutered Scan: Positive Estimated age: 4 years per owner Fleas: No flea dirt. S: Very nervous, muzzled by owner prior to exam. Stood stiffly on table and tolerated most exam and handling although tried to snap during intranasal vx and oral dewormer. O: BAR-H, BCS 5/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: Severe amount of yellow debris caked into both ear canals, lichenification of pinnae, canal stenosis AU. Mild mucoid discharge in fur around eyes. No nasal discharge. Moderate tartar visible on canines around muzzle. Long fur covering eyes and face. PLNs: Not enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. Some mats on lateral hind legs. No skin lesions noted. UG: Male neutered A: 1. Otitis externa – likely chronic 2. Dental disease 3. Some mats, long fur on face Short-term prognosis: Fair P: 1. Activyl 14-22# and pyrantel 1.5 ml PO given during exam 2. Ear cleaning daily for 2 days, then every other day x3 cleanings 3. Otibiotic AU BID x7 days 4. Long-term veterinary care should include ear management, and evaluation of teeth with dental cleanings as needed 1088
