N History : Rescued from housefire with other household dog, owner relocating to temp shelter Subjective: BAR, intermittently coughing but not in distress, superficial wounds Observed Behavior – very friendly and food motivated Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – y Objective P = 92 R = 20 BCS 5/9 EENT: mild scleritis OU, cerumenous debris AU, no nasal discharge noted, cough on tracheal palpation Oral Exam: pink mm w/ CRT<2s, moderate dental disease and multiple missing teeth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, diffuse crackles on thoracic auscultation and increased BV sounds, eupneic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: male intact, both testicles present MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, alopecia and excoriations along tail CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: 1. smoke inhalation Plan: 1. Monitor for changes in respiration rate and effort 2. SSD cream on tail wounds twice daily for 7 days 3. Nebulize twice daily for 5 days or longer if needed Prognosis: fair SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to smoke inhalation/airway compromise

SAFER ASSESSMENT:
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back, body wiggly. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail wagging with relaxed body posture
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed
Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip, body loose. He does not place his body between you and the toy.
Summary: Bolo displayed no behavior concerns during his handling assessment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During his initial medical exam, Bolo was social and allowed all handling.
ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Bolo so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. In the care center, Bolo displays as a social and enthusiastic dog with high energy, playful and affectionate.
