MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
09/29/2016 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 1 – NORMAL , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 54.8 LBS.
RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only Placement _X_Single-pet home (See playgroup notes; We believe Boita would likely do best as the only dog in the home as he displays offensive when in the presence of other dogs and shows no social behavior. It is advised Boita be allowed time to acclimate to his new environment before further assessment/attempts to modify.) _X_Recommend no dog parks (See playgroup notes; Due to her Playgroup information, we advise against dog parks until Boita can acclimate to his new home environment and this behavior can be further assessed. Guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly advised. We recommend appropriate management before exposing Boita to dog/dog interactions in a controlled environment.) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Due to the intensity/severity of Boita’s dog reactivity, the behavior department believes placement with a New Hope rescue would benefit him best at this time to further assess this behavior in a stable environment before permanent placement in a home. Force-free, reward based training only is recommended when introducing or exposing Boita to new and unfamiliar situations.)

09/29/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Unknown Intact, Owner surrender SAFER ASSESSMENT: 9/28/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Summary: Boita displayed no concern during his behavioral assessment. PLAYGROUP: Boita’s owner did not provide any information about his past behavior. 9/28: Boita enters the pen and rushes the gate. He lunges at the helper dog and shoves his muzzle in the space between the kennel door and the fence while snapping and barking. Due to this, Boita is muzzled before being allowed to interact off leash with the helper dog. Once muzzled, we attempted to have the two dogs greet at the gate again and Boita continued to display offensive behavior- lunging into the gate and biting at the fence in the direction of the other dog. We did not allow into the pen due to this extreme behavior. Once we removed his muzzled he continued to remain extremely tense and focused in the direction of the other dog. 9/29: Boita displays the same offensive behavior and is not allowed into the pen. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/28/16 Boita is Sociable and readily allows all handling to be conducted during his initial medical examination
