A volunteer writes:
“You talkin’ to me?” Unlike De Niro, our Bobby probably hasn’t spent much time on the inside of a taxi but he DOES have all the charisma, confidence, and bravado of one of our all-time favorite actors (and New Yorkers). I’m addicted to bunny ears (the first step is admitting it) so obviously Bobby had to be mine. He did not disappoint. Bobby is only 8 months old so everything is new and exciting. Sniffs are doled out generously and everything can be turned into a playmate. Even inanimate objects! But Bobby is not your average, young, silly pup. There’s a mischievous glint in those eyes and I quickly learn that this boy has a few tricks up his sleeve. On offering Bobby a treat he suddenly pops up on his hind legs and just stands there as if waiting for the bus (or a taxi?). I’m so impressed and excited that I give him his treat and then another for good measure. Now Bobby’s got my number. He begins hopping up on his back legs for longer and longer periods of time inciting claps, squeals, and, yes, treats from me each time. It’s only when I look down to see my now-half-empty bag that I realize…I’ve been played. With my treat supply severely diminished it’s time for fun and Bobby is an expert at that. He jumps at me, paws me, runs to me then darts away, baits me to follow him. All of it with that same clever glint in his eye. I’d almost feel taken advantage of by this adorable, little dynamo. That is, if I didn’t enjoy myself so much. Yep, Bobby made me an offer I couldn’t refuse – himself. Bobby is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.

A staff member writes “Bobby seems very house trained, as the first thing he did once we got outside was relieve himself. He went for a long time, so he must have excellent bladder control! He also sits on command! At only 8 months of age, he understandably has tons of exuberance and energy. He was quite active on the leash. But he did make a concerted effort to please me and became a little calmer towards the second half of the walk. He would benefit from regular walks. All in all he is a real cutie with a desire to please! Two thumbs up!”

POLICE MEMO

Officers receive a dog from a person that live in the area of the 41 PCT @ 1035 Longwood ave Bronx NY zip code 10459. The founder of the loose dog said they have found the dog @ 840 Garrison ave Bronx NY zip code 10459. Was found today the 05/09/16. No further info was given to the officers or me.

SAFER

Bobby pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body.  Bobby was calm and relaxed during handling. He followed the assessor at the end of the leash with a calm and relaxed body language while playing tag. Bobby took the toy away but had soft body language.

Bobby did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home.

Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.

Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears back, wagging tail, open mouth.

Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently  pulls back his paw.

Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently  pulls back his paw.

Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.

PLAY GROUP

When off leash with other dogs, Bobby greets and sniffs politely, but becomes unsure when solicited.
