KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 9/27/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1.Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Summary: No behavioral concerns seen on assessment; Blue displays social/friendly behavior. PLAYGROUP: 9/27/16 Blue was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Blue displays loose and wiggly body language when greeting female dogs. He is initially sexually motivated, but is able to listen to handler interruptions with further playgroup sessions. When meeting a male dog, Blue becomes nervous. He displays lip licks and look aways. He greets the other male and always him to greet but maintains nervous body language throughout the session. The Behavior Department believes that Blue would be most comfortable with female dogs, however a dog-dog interaction can be conducted with either a male or female dog to assess Blue’s comfort level and ensure compatibility. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/24/16 During his initial medical exam Blue tolerated all handling and showed no signs of aggression. Blue was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Blue displays loose and wiggly body language when greeting female dogs. He is initially sexually motivated, but is able to listen to handler interruptions with further playgroup sessions. When meeting a male dog, Blue becomes nervous. He displays lip licks and look aways. He greets the other male and always him to greet but maintains nervous body language throughout the session.
