07/12/16 20:04 BASIC INFORMATION Blue is a brown and tan, American Pit mix that is 6 years old. The owner bought Blue from a breeder when the dog was 5 weeks old. Blue has been his loyal companion since a puppy. The owner is surrendering Blue due to moving to a new placed that does not allow pets. Blue has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION Blue has lived with 6 children in the house. The youngest has been 7 months and he allows all handling from the children. Blue follows the children around the house and lounge next to them as they play. Blue has lived with 4 adults in the house and he is affectionate and playful. When stranger come and visit he approach and sniffs them then walks away. He has lived with 4 dogs in the house. He prefers being around females. But he growls and tense up around males. BEHAVIOR Blue allows all handling from all the family. He received a bath once a month. He allows getting his nails trimmed. Blue backs away when owner places his hands in his food bowl. He allows toys and rawhides to be removed from his mouth. Blue uses the bathroom in the backyard, he prefer grassy areas. Blue knows the command sit, stay, come, lay down, go upstairs and go down stairs. He is sometimes left in a crate when the owner is away. He is well behaved and falls asleep. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Blue is described as very affectionate, loving and obedient. Blue enjoys being around people. He follows people around and curious about what their up to. He enjoys laying down in the living room. His favorite toys are chew toys, kongs and balls. Blue walks next to the owner off leash. He enjoys Dog chow dry dog food. The owner sometime mixes it with wet food. Blue knows how to play tug and fetch. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE During intake Blue was distracted smelling his surroundings. He approached and smelled counselor. He allowed being collard, scanned and photographed.

07/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Blue previously lived with 4 adults, 6 children and 4 dogs. The owner stated Blue follows the children around the house and lounge next to them as they play, and he is affectionate and playful with the adults. The owner mentioned Blue prefers being around females because he growls and tense up around males. It was reported by the owner Blue is house trained, crate trained and well behaved alone when in his crate. The owner describes Blue as very affectionate, loving and obedient. At intake it was reported Blue was distracted in the office but he did allow all handling. During SAFER Blue came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Blue was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the first paw squeeze Blue was a bit tense next flank was applied which he didn’t respond at all. During the resources portion of the assessment Blue was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to Blue being a bit uncomfortable with his paws, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes a bit tense. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog- When off leash with a female dog at the Care Center, Blue greets her displaying soft body language. He spends most of his time calmly wandering in the pen.
