05/10/16 16:12 BASIC INFORMATION: Blue is a gray/ white American pit bull terrier. Blue was given to owner as a gift & has no known health issues. Blue was surrendered to ACC due to landlord issues & personal problems. SOCIALIZATION: Blue is friendly around strangers and loves getting pet. Blue has been exposed around young children, Blue gets along with children & adults. Blue has been exposed to other dogs & enjoys playing with them. Blue has not been exposed to other animals & has not bitten or scratched another animal or person within the past 10 days. Blue is best described as a loving, affectionate & playful dog. BEHAVIOR: Blue does not show signs of aggression when owner touches food bowl while he is eating. Owner is able to take bone, toy or any object from his mouth with no problem. Blue enjoys bathing and grooming, when an unfamiliar person approaches the home, he barks & makes the owner aware. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Blue has a high activity level. Owners favorite things of Blue is, he is extremely affectionate & is always there to greet the owner. he loves to play tug & would do best in a family home or a single person home with a lot of energy & time. Blue has been crate trained and does well for up 4 hours.Blue is familiar with the commands sit, stop & come. For exercise, he loves to go ‘out for brisk walks. Blue will pull very hard & will give the owner a struggle when walking him, he has been kept mostly indoors & enjoys eating dry & wet food from brand Pedigree. Blue will go potty on grass. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake, Blue displayed a loose body & an open mouth. Blue loved to receive attention from the counselor. Blue allowed all handling & scanned positive.

05/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

Blue pulls a bit on leash. He was not sociable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Blue did a lot of jumping up, body checking and played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction and was difficult to distract him. He was not interest on toys. Blue was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Blue has a high activity level. He is friendly around strangers and loves getting pet. Blue has been exposed around young children, Blue gets along with children & adults. Blue has been exposed to other dogs & enjoys playing with them. Blue does not show signs of aggression when owner touches food bowl while he is eating. Owner is able to take bone, toy or any object from his mouth with no problem”. Blue show a bit of concern during the tag interaction he became a bit over arousal. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Blue engages in bouncy play with males and females.

Blue engages in rough play with male and female dogs. He has displayed barrier reactivty, however, with select male dogs. His previous owner cites “Blue has been exposed to other dogs & enjoys playing with them.”. The behavior department feels that Blue should have a pre-adoption interaction to ensure compatability with a resident dog. When off leash with other dogs, Blue engages in bouncy play with males and females. 5/12 update: Blue engages in bouncy play with males and females. When a select male dog passes by outside the pen, Blue becomes aroused, tense and reactive, barking, and following. 5/13 update: Blue engages in bouncy, wrestling play with a group of females. 5/14 update: Blue engages in wrestling play with an exuberant female. 5/15 update: Blue greets politely within a group of social female dogs. He becomes tense and barrier-reactive when a large male dog passes through the yard, barking, growling, and charging at the fence.
