05/07/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: With the best pouty lower lip ever, Blue has that frumpy face that melts my heart. Surrendered by the only family he has ever known as they are moving where he is not welcome, we’re told that he lived well with children between the ages of 9 and 14, is shy and nervous with strangers, lives with but did not interact with a Chihuahua mix, doesn’t guard his things, likes to be brushed and have baths, and will bark when an unfamiliar person or animal first approaches his home or person. We’re also told he’s housetrained, walked 3x a day, loves to play fetch and knows ‘sit’ and ‘come’. Blue showed me all his skills, takes treats gently, and when we huddled together to get out of the rain Blue lay next to me rolling over for a belly rub and nuzzled my hand to pet him. How sweet is that! Blue got a little mouthy in play but listens well and sat immediately when told. Fun, friendly, snuggly and playful, Blue was a great sport about the rain, multiple stops for some pictures and just hanging out watching the rain fall. He’s hoping to find a new family to take care of, so stop by and meet him today.

Blue has mostly displayed sexually motivated behavior toward female dogs during off-leash socialization, at times engaging in play with the intent to mount. Blue is currently unaltered. He has not yet been introduced to a male while in our care. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction for Blue to ensure compatability with a resident dog, due to limited observation in playgroup. When off leash with other dogs, Blue engages in bouts of play with intent to mount. 5/9 update: Blue engages in pushy play with the intent to mount the other dog (female). 5/10 update: Blue is persistantly sexually motivated.
