02/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blue previously lived with an adult and has been exposed to children ages 2 and above. The owner stated Blue plays a bit too rough for smaller children. The owner describes Blue as a playful, friendly and affectionate. The owner mentioned Blue is house trained, crate trained and does well for at least up to 8 hours and he has a high activity level. It was reported by the owner Blue was fed raw meat, he does not eat dog food but eats beef chunks, turkey legs, liver and calcium bones. At intake it was reported Blue was friendly, loose and wiggly, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Blue came into the assessment room with high energy, he was friendly and playful towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Blue joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Blue was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Blue appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Due to Blue being playful a bit too rough with young children with high energy stated from the previous owner, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Dog licks hand. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Blue greets with an anxious body, ears flat back and whining. He does interact with the other dog but appears to not understand how to solicit play or engage in play. Blue is also a little sexually motivated but is not pushy about it.
