I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/19/2016 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-045501.

01/19/16 14:10 Basic Information: Trust is a tan and white American Pit Bull Terrier and Blue is a blue and white unaltered American Pit Bull Terrier. They are being surrendered because the owner left 2 weeks ago and has not returned to her home and no one has heard from the owner since. They have no known health problems or issues. Socialization: Trust and Blue are friendly with stranger and exuberant during play. They have lived with a 3 year old child; they were relaxed, tolerant, and exuberant during play. They have not lived with another animal besides each other. They live well with each other and are exuberant during play with each other. Trust will lunge at small dogs that she sees on the street. Blue is friendly and wants to play with all dogs he meets. They have never bitten a person or another animal. Behavior: Trust may chew on shoes and doors when left alone for long periods of time. They bother are afraid of fireworks; Blue will hide under things when he hears them. They are not bothered when someone touches or removes their food, treats, or bones. They think people are playing when they have their toys taken from them. They tolerant baths but Blue will try to jump out of the tub. They love to be brushed, pet, and cuddle. They bark when someone is at the door but is friendly to people when they come in the home. For a New Family to Know: The owner describes Blue and Trust as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, excitable, and independent. Blue tends to be shyer and Trust tends to be more confident and pushy. Blue has a low energy level and Trust has a high energy level. They love to play with sticks, bones, and rope toys. They like to play fetch and tug. They are kept mostly indoors. They are house trained but may have accidents if they are not let outside on their schedule. They are used to leash and unleashed walks. When off leash they wander but come when called. Blue pulls hard don a leash and Trust pulls lightly on leash. They eat a mixture of wet and dry food. They are both crate trained. They know the commands sit, down, stay, speak, and stop.

Blue previously lived with 2 adults, another dog and a 3 year old child. The owner stated Blue is friendly, playful and tolerant towards the other dog, adults and the child in the household. The owner describes Blue as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, excitable, and independent. The owner stated Blue is house trained; crate trained and has a low activity level. At intake it was reported Blue was friendly and he allowed all handling. During SAFER Blue came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Blue joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Blue was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Blue appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Blue greets the other dog with a stiff posture and a high tail and head. He is mildly sexually motivated but does allow for reciprocal greetings.
