01/23/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/23/16 20:48 Police brought Blizzard in after he was surrendered at their precinct. They stated the person who brought him in found him as a stray a week prior. He was friendly and eager to get out of the crate he was transported in. He allowed all handling and enjoyed petting. He whimpered and pulled on the leash, curious to see what was around him.
02/04/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Get ready for a blizzard…of fun! If you enjoy running around, messing with toys, loving on dogs both large and small and generally having a grand old time playing in the snow then Blizzard might just be your doggie twin! In addition to being stunningly gorgeous and super friendly, this handsome hound is also a star athlete and his playtime feats are both gravity-defying and hilariously awkward. Yes, he likes to hold onto his toys but I can pet him while he chows down and once distracted by a different toy or another dog Blizzard is happy to sit on command and wait for me to toss the first toy again. Much as I love playtime with Blizzard, my favorite pastime is watching him interact so nicely with other dogs as it’s clear he is such an amiable softie at heart. Give a good guy a second chance at the good life he so richly deserves by stepping up for Blizzard today.
01/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blizzard pulls a bit on the leash. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Blizzard followed the assessor at the end of the leash during the tag test with a calm and relaxed body language. He showed some concerning behavior during toy tests – stiffening and freezes, but did not escalate to a snap or bite to the assess-a-hand. Blizzard was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail but he may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address his guarding behavior with toys. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced no child home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, neutral wagging tail. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 4. Dog freezes
01/27/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Blizzard is loose and interested in greeting both male and female dogs, but his only play is mounting. He entered the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. Based on these observations the behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing him into a home with other dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Blizzard greets then immediately attempts to mount the greeter dog. 1/27: Blizzard continues attempting to mount, and is persistant, ignores correction. 1/28 update: Blizzard interacts with a group of males. He mounts and will also mount both of the males. 1/30 update: Blizzard greets well but attempts to mount both males and females. When the other male is not bothered by the mounting, Blizzard will cease and explore the yard.
