03/04/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/04/16 15:43 /27/16 14:31 Basic Info: Bleu cheese A1066659 is a 2yr old male gray and white AMPBT mix who was given to owner from her son & is being surrendered due to the owner no longer having time for him. He was last seen by a veterinarian in 2015 has no known health issues. Socialization: Around strangers Bleu cheese is friendly/outgoing. He’s lived with his owner and her son until last month that her son went away to another state. He plays gently, exuberant, relaxed, playful & somewhat rough with the owner (during play he’s big & doesn’t know his strength. She sometimes gets knocked over). Bleu cheese lived with a Shih Tzu and played exuberantly with him. He gets excited and barks when he sees other dogs on his walks. Bleu cheese has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Bleu cheese has been mostly kept indoors for the last month. He uses wee wee pads. The owner is an older lady and has a hard time walking him because he pulls hard on the leash. She stated that her son used to walk him all the time and used to take him running in the park. During storms/fireworks he’ll bark. He isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being disturbed while sleeping/resting. Bleu Cheese loves being brushed. Bleu cheese loves bath time. He has to be in the tub first, then the water has to be turned on, if not hell get scared of the water. Once wet, he’ll enjoy the bath. If someone approaches the home/family member Bleu cheese wants to play. For A New Family to Know: Bleu cheese is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable & independent with a high activity level. The owner likes how friendly & playful he is. Bleu cheese enjoys playing with a bottle, rope toys and games of fetch & tug. Bleu cheese has been mostly kept indoors. He sleeps on his dog bed in the owner’s bedroom. Bleu cheese eats dry dog food 2x a day and likes any kind of dog treats. He loves Caesars packets. If you ask him how many treats, you can count to 3 and he will bark. Bleu cheese’s known commands are “sit”, “stay” & “come”. Intake Behavior: Bleu cheese allowed all handling. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of. He was a very jumpy, friendly, super wiggly boy who took us quite a few tries to get a picture of. Boss was then coaxed into a kennel with food and some liver treats.
03/07/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Bleu cheese the topping may not be for everyone but, Bleu Cheese the pup? Impossible to resist. Surrendered to our care as his owner was moving, 2.6 year-old Bleu Cheese is a wiggly, excited, affectionate, and playful boy through and through. Want to be showered with sloppy kisses? Check. Looking for a never-ending, silly smile that will keep you smiling too? Check check. Need a fun activity partner or running buddy that will keep you in shape while also keeping you in stitches? Check, check, check. Bleu Cheese (or, BC as his friends call him) may be a bit over 2 years-old but inside that beautiful, shiny, silver and cream coat lies the heart of a puppy. Everything is interesting and exciting to this boy. Pups in neighboring pens incite furious tail wags while a nearby pigeon invites a (very one-sided) game of tag. Moments later he’s back next to me on a bench doling out those kisses and making sure that I’m having fun too! The most difficult thing to anticipate about life with Bleu Cheese? Resisting the urge to smile all day. Bleu Cheese is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.
03/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bleu Cheese came into our center as an owner surrender on 3/4/2016. It is reported he lived with a small shih tzu. He is reportedly friendly and outgoing towards strangers, playing gently and sometimes exuberantly, knocking owner over as if not knowing his own strength. The owner was not able to walk him due to his pulling so he has been trained to use wee wee pads in the home. Owner states he is not bothered if someone touches his Food, Toys, Treats. He is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable, and independent. During intake, Bleu Cheese was super wiggly, jumping and friendly, allowed all handling. Bleu cheese pulled on leash for his relief walk, jumping up and attempting to play, very active. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during Look item, lip lick. Bleu Cheese leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, lip lick, ears back. He was distracted and focused on other stimuli during Tag game, spun away on second pass, required coaxing to reapproach assessor at end. He gently pulled his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, lip lick. Bleu Cheese took Toy away with loose body, more interested in jumping up on handler and briefly mouthing leash. The Behavior Team feels Bleu Cheese would do well with an Experienced adopter that does not have very young children. He would benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and focus. Bleu Cheese will do well with daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of walks, runs, exercise, play as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct his high energy and enthusiasm. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted, lip lick, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog leans in and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, ears back, lip lick. Tag 2 . Dog is focused on other stimuli, spins away from touch on second pass, hesitant to approach at end and requires coaxing. Squeeze 1 / 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw, lip lick. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. No growling or stiffness. Quickly loses interest, focused on jumping up on handler and briefly mouthing leash.
