11/13/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I do not know Blaze’s story except that he was surrendered to us by his former owners for being ill. Blaze, a young pup, only six months of age, is indeed ataxic. He can walk awkwardly very short distances on the leash, then stumbles, falls, tries to get up… and falls again …He does hear with his beautiful rabbit ears and sees with his gorgeous and sweet grey eyes. He has been well cared for, is well groomed and the perfect weight. His anthracite body is beautifully chiseled. Blaze is a very good looking youngster. He lays quietly in his kennel and free in a pen, seeks attention, sniffs my treats, accepts my caresses. He eliminates shortly after leaving his den. I pick him up and he stays calmly on my lap and against my chest… I feel for Blaze, left in a strange world by the only people he knew and unable to do the most simple things a healthy dog does…like walking, playing ball, reaching easily for what he wants… He was almost asleep when I left him last night, curled in a fetal position in his clean den. He accepted a rawhide and chewed it …to sleep. All our thoughts are with you, little boy.
