03/02/16 16:24hrs Blackberrie would wag his tail and sit calmly near his finder. When called he would approach the Admissions Counselor while wagging his tail. He would sniff at the Admissions Counselor’s legs. He accepted treats gently from the Admissions Counselor’s hands. He was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed.
03/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Dressed for success! Blackberrie is accepting applications for his new person or family, so rocked his bowtie for our photo shoot. Seriously, who doesn’t love a dog in a bow tie! He’s so handsome, and so friendly, and so housetrained he was actively soliciting my attention for his need to go out. Whew! With a friendly, lively energy BB (I always use a nickname for my friends) chases a toy in the backyard, shows off his sit for a treat which he takes softly, and leans in close for some petting. There’s nothing like a good butt scratch, and BB positions himself perfectly, does a little butt scratch shuffle and almost twists himself into a pretzel as he turns to smile at me. Absolutely stunning in his black coat with bronze highlights, his long legs and wagging tail complement his fun personality, and he could definitely be on the cover of Doggie GQ! BB showed our behavior team how good he is and he’s able to be adopted into a home with average dog experience. Friendly, lively and personable (and don’t forget how good he looks in a bow tie), BB is hoping you’ll come meet him today. Link to video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
03/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Blackberrie pulls a bit on the leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Blackberrie was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Blackberrie took the toy away with a soft body language. Blackberrie did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, dog licks hands while lips are long. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: Blackberrie engages in soft play with the intent to mount the female helper.
03/02/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Blackberrie engages in running play with females, he has yet to be introduced to a male, but typically has the intent to mount (he is currently unaltered). He is anxious in the yard and becomes frustrated when he is unable to mount. He arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction before placing Blackberrie into a home with other dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Blackberrie engages in soft play, using paws slaps and jumps around. 3/3 update: Blackberrie engages in soft play with the intent to mount the female helper. 3/8 update: Blackberrie is anxious in the yard. He engages in bouts of vocal play and also attempts to mount the other dog during play. 3/9 update: Blackberrie is anxious and vocal in the yard. He becomes vocal when he attempts to mount but is unable to. 3/11 update: Blackberrie repeatedly attempts to jump on top of the helper dog and mount her despite correction. He becomes vocal with her when he is unable to mount. He does solicit running but with intent to mount.
