PROFILE :

Basic Information:

Prince Zeus is an unaltered 9 year old rat terrier mix. He was adopted from the care center 8 months ago and is being surrendered because the owner does not have enough time to care for him as she previously did due to family members’ health.

Socialization:

Prince Zeus lived with 2 adults and did not have visitors to the home to know his behavior with them.  He is gentle during play with the owner. He lived with 3 other small-medium size altered dogs all under the age of 6 years. The owner stated that he was playful with the other dogs and like they liked to chase each other. It is unknown how he will react around cats. He lived with a parakeet and he would howl at the bird.

Behavior:

Prince Zeus is not bothered by loud noises, people touching his food/food bowl (not bothered by other dogs walking by while eating), bathing (runs from dryer), being brushed, or woken from sleep. He is friendly when his toys are taken from him and when he is held. It is unknown how he will react when a bone is taken away, removed from furniture, has his nails trimmed, or when strangers approach his home or family.

For a New Family to Know:

He is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow, and excitable. He is kept mostly indoors and has a medium activity level. His favorite thing to do is play fetch with balls. He sleeps on his dog pillow. He is fed Alpo dry dog food twice a day. He is trained to use the bathroom outside and on training pads. He is well behaved at home alone. He knows the commands down, here, and alright. He is used to leashed walks twice a day. He does not pull on a leash.

Prince Zeus came into the office with his tail tucked and was shaking through the process. When approached slowly and spoke to softy he allowed petting. When pet, he lowered his head and remained very tense but allowed all handling. He did not want to walk but allowed to be picked up and carried.
