05/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/21/16 19:45 Billy A1074604 was found tied up to a fire hydrant on Phelan pl.in the Bronx and the security tried to get her. Billy got loose and was running down the street when the officers showed up. No information on the owner is availble. The officers stated that Billy was growling, lunging and tried to bite the officers. Behavior during intake Billy growled when approached. She was leashed and was taken out of the carrier. She did not allow handling and growls when you get near her face or touch her too much. She did not like the men staff t but allowed me (female) to walk her and pet her. She had an open mouth and stayed close to me. She sat next to my foot. During her exam I had to towel wrap her with gloves. She began to growl when examined and tried to bite and lunge but once the men staff left the room she relaxed when I spoke to her softly.

05/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Billy was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling and lunges at the rope. He did not show any social behavior. Once he was out of the kennel he stands tall and makes direct eye contact. Billy was growling, exposed his front teeth, grabbing at the leash and lunging at the handler. For the safety of Billy and the handler the behavior team decided to place him back in his kennel he was difficult to handle. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Billy is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER. Billy did not allow any touch or handling he was also intolerant of handling (growling, tried to bite). The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
