Traced chip back to owner (previous ACC client) BAR, hydrated Observed Behavior – very friendly, solicits pets/contact. Loose body lang. P = 100 R = 18 BCS: 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: worn dentition PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: female intact, penulous mammary glands, but no mgts or vaginal dc MSI: Ambulatory x 4 with slightly arthritic gait (mostly pelvic) , skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed Assessment: geriatric, with suspected chronic arthritis (pelvic?) Plan: vaccinate deworm flea tx heartworm test already microchipped Consider survey rads, consider starting on dasiquin or low dose NSAIDS Prognosis: good SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to age

Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.

Summary: Bianca was calm and social during the handling assessment. Though a bit slow due to age,she was relaxed, and showed no concerning behavior.
PLAYGROUP:
When off leash at the Care Center, Bianca greets both a novel female and novel male with a soft body. She slowly investigates the pen, mostly keeping to herself. Bianca was brought in as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Bianca be placed in a home with a resident dog that matches her calm demeanor.
08/09/17-08/12/17: Bianca greets both a novel male and novel female dogs with a soft body. She slowly investigates the pen, mostly keeping to herself. She displays assertive posturing when another female attempts to mount her.

At intake Bianca was reportedly friendly, and allowed all handling.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/9/17
During the initial examination Bianca was very friendly, solicits pets/contact. Loose body lang.
ENERGY LEVEL:
Her previous owner describes Bianca as a mellow, affectionate, and aloof dog. Bianca displayed low energy and movement throughout assessment. Bianca will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised.
